DETAINED former Minister of State (Defence) Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the probe of the N4.745billion wired to a company by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA).

Former Minister of State (Defence) Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the probe of the N4.745billion wired to a company by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA). The cash was wired to Sylva Mcnamara, which has been linked to Obanikoro within seven months in 2014. Sen. Obanikoro said of the cash, N2.23billion was transferred to Fayose. He handed Fayose $5,377,000 in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele. Obanikoro admitted that the N1.3billion was flown to Akure airport in two chartered flights for delivery to Agbele. The money was sourced from the $2.1billion meant for arms purchase at the ONSA. Obanikoro told Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) detectives that he is not the owner of Sylva Mcnamara that was used to transfer the funds to Fayose. But he defended why the money was remitted to Mcnamara. Part of the reason is the warding off of a plot by Boko Haram to attack Lagos, he claimed. Accompa...

Saudi prince executed for murder

Image
Saudi prince executed for murder. Saudi Arabia today (Wednesday) executed a member of the royal family for murder, in a rare case involving one of the thousands of members of the House of Saudi. Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir was put to death in the capital Riyadh for shooting dead Adel al-Mahemid, a Saudi, during a brawl, the interior ministry said in a statement. Kabir was the 134th local or foreigner put to death this year, according to an AFP tally of ministry statements. The Arab News reported in November 2014 that a court in Riyadh sentenced an unnamed prince to death for killing his friend. He lost his life and another person was injured in an exchange of gunfire following a dispute at a camp on the edge of Riyadh in December 2012, the newspaper said. Desert camps are popular gathering places for Saudis. When the killer realised that his victim was a friend and colleague, he informed the police, the Arab News said. The sentence reflected the kingdom’s “fair justice sys...

11 “sins” Of Ex-president: To Those Condemning Buhari Because Of Jonathan

11 “sins” Of Ex-president: To Those Condemning Buhari Because Of Jonathan. Sixteen months since the inauguration there is increasing disappointment that President Muhammadu Buhari has not delivered on his lofty promises. Some Nigerians consider that Goodluck Jonathan was so far a better president than Buhari. I am surprised that informed Nigerians will take it upon themselves to spread the kind of information they are spreading about Muhammadu Buhari which can rarely be proven. Most of those spreading the rumours are either too young to know or remember what happened yet they passionate disseminate distorted information. Worse still they are creating a comparison between the military rule of over 30 years ago with the civilian rule that started six years ago! To save you the stress of verification, most of what will be brought up are things you also remember so well. The facts are there and you can check them out or simply deny them. 1. It was under Jonathan’s watch that $20 billi...

PATRIOTISM FROM CHIEF AJIBOLA ARIBISALA (SAN).

Image
PATRIOTISM FROM CHIEF AJIBOLA ARIBISALA (SAN). There is nothing that is unconstitutional about the raid of the residences of the judges by the operatives of DSS. This raid should have happened about five years ago. The corruption in the judiciary has got to a condemnable level. We lawyers know that something like this was bound to happen. It is happening rather too late. No law says a criminal cannot be dealt with. The NJC cannot even say that the DSS should not make arrests in the midnight. It is only when one has committed an offence or suspected to have committed an offence that such a person can be arrested. You can even be arrested on a Xmas day or New Year day. A lot of terrible things are happening in this country. One would have expected the NBA to have intervened and cried foul. When a judge was attacked in Ekiti some years ago, what did the NBA do? What could be more humiliating than a governor going to a courtroom to attack a judge? The same governor is the one leading th...

Revealed: 3 Times the FBI Arrested 'Corrupt' Court Judges in US, Just Like the DSS Did in Nigeria

Revealed: 3 Times the FBI Arrested 'Corrupt' Court Judges in US, Just Like the DSS Did in Nigeria. Just like the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested some judges for alleged corruption last Friday, a cursory check of possible instances shows that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – the closest thing to Nigeria’s DSS – has a history of acting in like manner on judges. The DSS raided the homes of some judges across country, claiming it recovered huge wads from them. The secret police arrested some of them. Some of the judges the DSS arrested are Adeniyi Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba (federal high court), and Slyvester Ngwuta and John Okoro (supreme court). Ademola is the judge handling the trial of Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), who is being prosecuted by the DSS for alleged illegal possession of firearms and money laundering. The judge has been critical of the DSS owing its refusal to release Dasuki after he had granted him bail. Dimgba ha...

Falana slams NBA, says shielding of corrupt judges embarrassing

Falana slams NBA, says shielding of corrupt judges embarrassing. Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), Today Sunday criticised the Nigerian Bar Association for shielding corrupt judges despite having information about their activities. He described the failure of NBA to deal with corrupt officials in the judiciary as an embarrassment to the “incorruptible members of the bar”, adding that it was responsible for the current state of the country’s judiciary. He said this while reacting to the raid on the homes of some judges and the arrest of four of them by the Department of State Services between Friday and Saturday. The operatives of the DSS had raided the official quarters of judges at Abuja, Gombe, Kano and Port Harcourt and ended up arresting at least four judicial officers. The arrested judicial officers comprised two Justices of the Supreme Court – Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Okoro – as well as Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court and another judge ...

Justice Ayo Isa Salami was rough handed, illegally suspended and forcefully expelled from the bench, not a single response from NBA

Justice Ayo Isa Salami was rough handed, illegally suspended and forcefully expelled from the bench, not a single response from NBA. A promising young lawyer was killed in Rivers state recently , not even a statement from NBA; Several courts proceedings/sittings disrupted in Ekiti and a High Court Judge was even slapped by Ayodele Fayose, not even a press release by the NBA; Corrupt Justices were apprehended and to be prosecuted, a powerful response from NBA threatening a show down; who is fooling who for goodness sake? Let's all shame the NBA; Let's declare our support for the ongoing war on corruption; No matter who you are, or where you are,; Executive, Judiciary or Legislature if you do anyhow you shall see any how.

Corruption Is Under Attack, Not Judiciary — Presidency

Image
Corruption Is Under Attack, Not Judiciary — Presidency. The Presidency assures that the President reserves his highest respect for the judiciary as the third arm of government. To this end, the President will not do anything to undermine its independence. President Buhari remains a committed democrat, in words and in his action, and will not take any action in violation of the constitution. The recent surgical operation against some judicial officers is specifically targeted at corruption and not at the judiciary as an institution. In a robust democracy such as ours, there is bound to be a plurality of opinions on any given issue, but there is a convergence of views that the country has a corruption problem that needs to be corrected. But reports by a section of the media are giving us cause for concern. In undertaking the task of reporting, the media should be careful about the fault lines they open. It is wrong to present this incident as a confrontation between the executive a...

70-year-old lawmaker sentenced to death for corruption In China. Just as Nigerians are expressing worries over President Muhammadu Buhari’s methods of fighting corruption, a 70-year-old member of parliament in China identified as Bai Enpei has been sentenced to death for graft. Picture below: Enpei in court at his sentencing Enpei, who was accused of receiving bribes, is the latest official to be punished for graft under a campaign launched by President Xi Jingping. The former senior legislator with China’s legislature, the National People’s Congress, was accused of taking ‘a huge amount of bribes’ and holding excessive assets with unidentified sources. China began investigating Enpei for graft in August 2014 and he was expelled from the Communist Party of China by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) in January 2015. The CCDI investigation found that Enpei took advantage of his post to seek profits for others and accepted “a huge amount in bribes.” State...

Judges may be VIPs but they are not above the law, and when they commit heinous crimes, they are treated like criminals.

Image
Judges may be VIPs but they are not above the law, and when they commit heinous crimes, they are treated like criminals. There is no law saying judges can't have their houses raided when arresting them and preventing them from tampering with evidence. The FBI does it regularly in the US. If you disagree, please read the story of Rep. William J. Jefferson of Louisiana (of the Atiku Abubakar fame) whose house and two offices were raided by the FBI during an investigation into a bribe he collected from a telecom company to help influence US government contracts. He was later arrested, prosecuted successfully and sent to prison. Now, if there is an order of merit for federal lawmakers and judges in the US, lawmakers should be superior. Nigeria follows the US style of government even if she borrowed English Common Law. So, because the house of a judge was never raided before in Nigeria doesn't make it illegal to do so with cogent reasons. Lawyers have been talking of the DSS i...

NASS SQUANDERMANIA: THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG

Image
NASS SQUANDERMANIA: THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG We have heard it before, but the benificiaries have always dismissed it as false and malicious. The cat is now out of the bag. So, if you are standing, please sit down before reading the next sentence. Born again House of Representative member from Kano, Dr Abdulmumini Jibrin, has this morning, speaking on Radio France, comfirmed that apart from their regular fat salaries, each member also recieves a minimum of N10 million every month as his constituency allowance. He also comfirmed that these monies go to the pockets of the members because what they spend in their costituencies does not even reflect 5% of what is collected. Jibrin is right, from my observation over the years since 1999, the represenratives mostly become generous during farming season when they bring in 600 bags of fertilizer, that is a trailer load and distribute it with fanfare to ward representatives, then next, they dig a few boreholes and thirdly, they offer sch...

Why Fg Should Not Obey Ecowas Court Ruling By Jude Egbas. To make the joke even more of a rib cracking one, the ECOWAS court ruled that the Federal Government should pay N15m in damages to Dasuki. To compensate a man who allegedly diverted $2.1bn earmarked for the purchase of ammunition with another N15m, is the stuff that stand up comedy shows are made of. It’s akin to rewarding the Fox for storming through the barn door and making away with the Hen. To placate a man with N15m for allegedly ending the lives of hundreds in the war thorn North East, is sick comedy. Sometimes, these jokes write themselves. And ECOWAS’ ruling should have been funny if it wasn’t so tragic. The ruling is premised on the alleged arrest of Dasuki by the State without a search warrant. Online Newspaper Premium Times, reported the ruling this way: “On Tuesday, a three-member panel led by Justice Friday Nwoke said Nigeria’s government was wrong in arresting Mr. Dasuki without a search warrant, adding tha...

IS DASUKI REALLY DESERVE JUSTICE?? .

Image
DASUKI REALLY DESERVE JUSTICE?? Hundreds of innocent troops and officers were wasted by boko haram, owing to the greed of one man. Who gave them justice? . Their wives have been turned miserable widows, because of the wickedness of one man. who will give them justice?? . Their innocent children have been rendered fatherless, and denied the joy of fatherhood, owing to the wickedness of one man. Who is prepared to give them justice? . Our gallant troops were given guns without bullets, to go and face the monster called boko haram, who was deadly sophisticated. Our soldiers were always hacked down in their tens and hundreds, owing to this wickedness. Those patriotic soldiers today are buried and forgotten, by the same society they laid down their lives to protect. Their families are living in pains and disgust. ECOWAS COURT did not give them justice. Today, we yearn for justice for the man who engineered this evil! What is wrong with my generation?? l ask!!

Lessons from this picture: 1. Not all opportunities are to be taken. Some are traps. 2. A person can become so determined to destroy another person that they become blind and end up destroying themselves. 3. You fight best in your natural element and environment. Here the bird has advatange in his natural element. 4. Know your limits, we all have them. 5. Sometimes the best response to provocation is not to fight. 6. Dino Melaye Asks Buhari To Grant Presidential Pardon/amnesty To Treasury Looters

Image
Dino Melaye Asks Buhari To Grant Presidential Pardon/amnesty To Treasury Looters Senator Dino Melaye had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to give presidential pardon and amnesty for treasury looters . Melaye in statement Yesterday Sunday said “Though an unrepentant advocate for integrity and forthrightness especially from public office holders, I however sincerely want to recommend that Mr. President grant Presidential Amnesty/Pardon to all those who looted our treasury provided they return all proceeds of their loot to the government within six (6) months of the declaration of the Amnesty. “This, I believe will encourage the voluntary return of the the looted funds, empower the government financially to immediately commence the implementation of projects and programmes that will stimulate the economy and raise the peoples’ standard of living, and save the judiciary and other law enforcement agencies the agony of fruitlessly pursuing the looters in and out of the courtrooms. Looters require radical measures, not diplomacy – Jeremiah Useni

Image
Looters require radical measures, not diplomacy – Jeremiah Useni A Nigerian senator has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to introduce radical measures in his anti-corruption fight if he must recover looted funds, insisting that applying strict democratic principles on looters will only see them walking free and rich. “Public officers stole a lot of money. As far as I am concerned, such people need to be dealt with the very way Jerry Rawlings did in Ghana,” Senator Jeremiah Useni told a crowd at his Jos, Plateau State residence on Saturday when he hosted an Independence Day celebration there. “We must support what President Buhari is doing. We must recover stolen funds.” The Senator representing Plateau-South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insisted that key members of his party found to have looted the treasury must be given the Rawlings treatment, to serve as a deterrent to other Nigerian public officers. Rawlings, who seized power in a 1997 military coup ...
