No will to save under Jonathan – Okonjo-Iweala

No will to save under Jonathan – Okonjo-Iweala

The immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on 14th April 2016 said lack of "political will" to save oil revenue under ex President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was responsible for the challenges facing the country presently.

Furthermore she said as a result, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund must seek means to embed savings in national constitutions devoid of political manipulations according to Punch Newspaper reports.

Meanwhile, Madam Ngozi was part and parcel of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. People may that she probably gave Jonathan the advice to save and wasn't heeded but it is the same Madam Ngozi who had been on the defensive regarding the trade off between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and herself. It also descended into a fracas because of her series of pronouncements on money issues.

I think Madam Ngozi will get to a point where she will tell Nigerians what really transpired under their administration because only recently, she was in the papers saying "it is painful for her that Nigerians are facing these huge financial challenges" Now, Madam Ngozi has added that it is because of lack of "political will" to save when we had the opportunity to do so, are the reasons why we are in this mess.

For me, I think she should stop hurting Nigerians more until she is ready to own up to what really happened. You were there in the thick of things, you didn't raise alarm, you were there and you were part of the clearing house - signing and authorising financial transactions without following due process. Please, please stop!!

Someone should please ask her to zip it up. Nigeria didn't have the political will to save under Jonathan and that is why we are in this mess" - imagine Madam Ngozi's statement? I just get upset each time, I am hearing all the excuses for the orgy of corruption and monumental looting that they presided over. We are tired of hearing the excuses.

The fact is that you people failed this country and when we say it, you people and wailers are up in arms - saying we should stop blaming the past administration. Now it is also coming from you? Madam Ngozi, what we are only interested in is how the looting took place, who and who got what in order that we can claw back whatever we can. That is the help that Nigeria needs from you and I hope you will oblige.
