#Budget2016- LET OUR PEOPLE GO!
▓ It is now clear that the problem with Nigeria at this moment is the National Assembly. The Senate to be precise. It's no longer a secret that they have been unhappy over the unearthing of the padding of the budget.

▓ It's also an open secret too that they are holding the Presidency ransom over the on-going trial of Dr. Abubakar BUKOLA Saraki.

But the people of Nigeria are the real victims.

As President Buhari was eager to assent to the budget, an emergency Federal Executive Council meeting was called as soon as he received the budget. The aim was for the Ministers to look into the budgets for their MDAs.

▓ At the Budget Review meeting presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Head of the Economic Team, some key projects were found modified or completely deleted. For example:

▓ The Calabar-Lagos coastal rail line for which Buhari made a provision of N60 billion, deleted.

▓ The amount set aside for the completion of the Idu/Kaduna railway project, was slashed by N8.7 billion.

▓ The executive had provided for the completion of all major road projects across the country, the National Assembly reduced the amounts provided and instead included new roads which studies are yet to be conducted. (Maybe new roads leading to their villages)

▓ Allocations for the purchase of essential life saving drugs for major health campaigns like polio and AIDS, which is fast depleting, were removed.

▓ The allocation for essential drugs was reallocated for the provision of ambulance, which the health ministry did not ask for.

▓ It was also observed that certain provisions made in the areas of agriculture and water resources to further the Federal Government’s diversification project were either removed or reduced while the funds were moved to provisions of rural health facilities and boreholes, for which provisions have been made elsewhere.

It's a deliberate mess aimed at turning Nigerians against the executive. But it will backfire because Nigerians know that the National Assembly is trying to frustrate the efforts of the Pres. Buhari led administration at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians. We will not standby and watch!
