Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State has nullified the election of former senate president, David Mark.

Image
The Makurdi division of the Court of Appeal on Saturday, ordered a re-run of the poll within 90 days. The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Mr Donald Onjeh had challenged the decision of the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mr Onjeh’s lawyer, Adetunji Oso, also urged the Appellate Court to allow his appeal and set aside the decision of the Tribunal. He said the court erred when it held that the papers tendered by his client were mere documentary hearsay. The documents, according to Mr Oso, demonstrated that while the collation of results for the Benue South senatorial district’s election on March 28 was still ongoing in seven of the nine local government areas, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Senator Mark winner of the poll.

Dasuki Threatened To Kill Me - Okereke

Emmanuel Osita Okereke on November 20 supposed that Sambo Dasuki, a former national security adviser, wanted to assassinate him for reporting some of his (Dasuki’s) activities to the then president Goodluck Jonathan. Okereke, the director general of National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons (NATFORCE), had a briefing with journalists in Enugu on Friday. He supposed that former NSA was one of the people who betrayed Jonathan, when he persuaded him to sack all the service chiefs. The director general said: “There is information we made available to the former president and he was directed to invite us for more information, but Dasuki rebuffed it because he was trying to save his boys and agents. “We know how many arms that entered this country illegally through various borders, which ex-NSA concealed and protected the suspects. “My men intercepted 12 trailer load of ammunition at Sema border, and Col. Sambo u...

Ndume spoke on why APC senators stood against the motion seeking to pay N5,000 allowance to unemployed Nigerians as promised during their campaign period

Image
I think that there was a political ambush there, if not, how would the senators of the Federal Republic tell the president to start the implementation of payment of N5000 to youths who are not working. I was of the opinion that if they were serious and patriotic about it, and that is why I wanted to amend the motion, that the Senate would have asked the president to bring a supplementary budget to cover such expense. That what I wanted to amend but that would have been a better prayer to ask Mr President to bring to the National Assembly, a supplementary budget that will be approved to enable him to start implementing the payment of N5000 to indigent people. The president cannot just pay such monies, where will he get it from without Appropriation? So, the National Assembly cannot be part of that unless the resources were appropriated for and the president says he has only about 30 million in the bank. You cannot use that to pay people. PDP wanted to use that for a cheap blackmail but...

PDP Senators will soon move in their numbers to APC – Senate Leader

Image
Senate leader, Mohammed Ali Ndume says many PDP Senators will soon defect to the APC. He said this in an interview with Leadership, while denying claims that many APC senators will in the future defect to PDP for political tickets to higher political offices. Ndume says contrary to this opinion, PDP senators will be moving en-mass to their party because their party is currently in a coma... "Yes, because PDP is in a coma and only God knows when it will recover. As you can see now, they do not have any doctor or pharmacist and the only nurse is Olisa Metuh. I am part of some of the APC members trying to convince some of them over to move over to our side and they will soon move in their numbers in the Senate. So, when you tell me that APC members are going over to the PDP, it is strange to me because like I said earlier, I am trying to convince some of my colleagues over to the APC. And you know that electoral shock is worse than electric shock. That was what PDP suffered and the...

We won’t renege on our promise to pay N5k monthly to unemployed Nigerians – APC

Image
The leadership of APC has released a statement saying they will not renege on their campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians. This comes after the senators from the party voted against the senate moving a motion in favor of the bill seeking for Nigerians to be paid N5,000 allowance on November 4th. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians that it will not renege on its campaign promise to pay 5,000 Naira each monthly to 25 million most vulnerable Nigerians, while calling on the citizens to ignore the mischievous attempt by the PDP to confuse and mislead them on this issue. All the ministers will get portfolios - Shehu Garba

Image
Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba says that contrary to what is being interpreted from President Buhari's chat with Channels TV in India last week, all the 36 ministers recently screened by the senate will get portfolios but not all of them will oversee a ministry. In an interview with Daily Trust, Shehu said “You know we have a structure of government in place in this country whereby there are substantive ministers and ministers of state. What the president meant (in the interview granted) was that not all the ministers in his cabinet will have the full control of the ministries. You know it is not possible to have the number of ministries more than the number of ministers. Even former President Goodluck Jonathan had 28 ministries and 42 ministers. So, what the president meant was that some of his cabinet members would be ministers of state.” Asked whether this implies that all the ministers will have portfolios, Shehu an...
